Some Spoilers Ahead;
I decided to watch Netflix’s latest Indian release, ‘Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga’, as it’s also trending worldwide. The movie stars Yami Gautam and Sunny Kaushal and is a vengeance-based heist drama. Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga has been getting mixed reviews, but it did not work for me.
Plot
Chor Nikal ke bhaga is the story of a couple set to go to a diamond heist to repay a loan Sunny Kaushal’s (Ankit) took. Yami (Neha), as his girlfriend, agrees to accompany him for the heist, which is set to take place in an aeroplane. Unfortunately, 40,000 above ground, their heist goes completely berserk, and the plan is a major failure leading to a hostage situation.
4 Reasons Why ‘Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga’ Didn’t Work For Me
1) The Movie Was A Slow Burn
Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga started so slow that it didn’t intrigue me. Ten minutes into the film, I didn’t feel like sitting through it. There is a twist, but it happens in the last 40 minutes of the film, which again is very rushed. So you don’t get to feel for the characters. It was boring.
2) The Characters Were Very Unconvincing
Yami Gautam as a flight attendant and Sunny Kaushal as her boyfriend and the mastermind behind the on-air heist are too far-fetched. From start to finish, there’s something so off with the characters that you can’t empathise with them. Honestly, a shame because two talented actors get to do nothing in a massively failed execution. For instance, in the first 15 minutes of the film, you see how they meet and start dating. The entire sequence feels so fabricated and rushed you never develop a liking towards them as the lead. Their story later unfolds, which again becomes very predictable after a point. Just not worth it.

3) The Movie Was Extremely Ambitious But Lacked Execution
The plot of the movie rarely excites you. In some places, it’s too slow. In some places, it’s rushed. I’m disappointed because the film’s story could have been developed well and had endless potential. The gist of the film wants you to watch the film, but the execution part was a massive fail. The screenplay is too weak, and there’s a sense of artificiality, which just didn’t sit right with me. Most of the time, I was all, “How Tf did this happen now” because it was atrocious for the least. Things kept happening in the film, and it was hard to keep up with them after a point.
4) Most Of The Scenes In The Film Felt Unnecessary
From start to finish, the movie was consistent with unnecessary scenes to the point the entire movie started feeling like a filler. Too many boring scenes with weak dialogue. Artificial acting at its peak made it impossible to keep up with the film’s pace. Sunny Kaushal, the main thought behind the execution of the heist, seemed clueless. His character was given no substance is the reason most of the things he did felt unnecessary. Yami Gautam still had a story, but even her character was made to do unnecessary things.
Conclusion
Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga was a massive ‘miss’ for me. The film just didn’t feel right, I didn’t like the characters or the script, and the acting was mediocre. I had high expectations from the film because the trailer felt compelling and something new. This movie is a classic example of what the ‘failed execution’ of a story does.
I’d save you some time and suggest you skip this movie, as it’s not worth it. I’d rate it a 2/10. (That too for Yami Gautam’s character and everything she did in the film.)
