The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho happens to change the lives of the readers forever. His masterpiece tells the magical story of Santiago, A shepherd boy who wants to travel in search of a worldly treasure.
The story of the treasure Santiago finds along the way teaches us about the essential wisdom of listening to our hearts and following our dreams.
The Alchemist only sold one copy the first week of release and took another six months to sell the second copy. Finally, the author’s publisher dropped him, but he knew that when you want something, the whole universe conspires to help you. It may not happen the way we want, but it happens.
The Best Part Of The Book Was:
There is a para. “What’s the world’s greatest lie?” the boy asked, completely surprised.
“It’s this- that at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what’s happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate. That’s the world’s greatest lie.”
I appreciate how Coelho reminds us that our heart is not escapable because they are not. One suppressed emotion will only redirect that energy onto another. And when one emotion becomes too strong, the heart will explode into a wreckage of emotions.
A Few Highlights From The Book Are:
- “Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how others should lead their lives, but none about their own.”
- “When you want something, the universe conspires to help you achieve it.”
- “If good things are coming, they will be a pleasant surprise, but if bad things are, and you know in advance, you will suffer greatly before they occur.”
- “Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself.”
