Responsible Citizens Will Lead To A Responsible Country

The Train Of Kashmir And The Uncivilized we….

Peer Mohammad Amir Qureshi

I still distinctly recall the day when we were first given the chance to travel by train, which was the month in which trains were first introduced in Kashmir. It was a pleasant occasion for us because Melbourne Educational Institute Serch Ganderbal had scheduled a leisurely train trip. Our teachers checked our tickets before we boarded the train at Srinagar Railway Station. Because we had never seen the train in front of us in person before, other than on television, when it beeped its horn, it made all the kids happy and made us all grin. While the new train was in operation, our teachers were outlining its features and specifications. The digital metres were installed on it along with loudspeakers and they announced forthcoming stops loudly and display any necessary cautions or recommendations, such as “Please Vacate the Seats for Ladies.” The train has charging ports and fans mounted on it for charging purposes.

After a few years, I boarded the train. I was horribly startled and surprised by the condition of the train due to the lack of meters, removal of the charging connections, filthy seat coverings, and numerous idiotic scribbling on the seats. The train was covered in dust and littered with the wraps from people’s ingested cookies, chocolate, and Lays, and some of the electric boards have been removed, some boards are dangling, and even the footrests are broken or inoperable, displaying how uncivilized we are. Who is responsible for the entire issue, including the filthy condition and the dirty state of the railway?

Since passengers have been repeatedly harmed and train delays should also be eliminated, the railroad’s department should also renovate the train and fix the electric system such as fans, charging ports, etc. The railway department must take the necessary actions, such as checking the tickets of passengers and imposing fines on those who smoke in trains, harass girls in trains, and damaging public property. To end filthy behaviour, strict measures should be applied by the railway department they should take the appropriate actions to prevent suffering among the passengers. There must be an ATM at the Srinagar Railway Station, and the Railway Department should also take care of the deplorable state of the washrooms at the Nowgam Railway Station.
