Introduction
It is permissible for women to participate in any position which she is qualified. Although some position are specific to the men such as the position of imam (prayer leader) and supreme commander of the armed forces. Islam provides all kinds of women’s rights to be an authority and leader.
In Islam everything is permissible in it reality there no need any proof or evidence to proof it, but need a tangible evidence from the noble Quran and Hadeeth for forbidding of anything and that evidence should be clear also. No one has the authority to make one thing forbidden by their own intellectual and knowledge power. According to Islam there is no any strong evidence which prevent the Muslim women’s political rights, Islam provides the right of women in all things
If we will prevent the women from voting then it will be a big destroys for our community, and if we have women being a parliament member or secretary then she will raise voice for our community she will work sincerely and she will try to solve the problem of Muslim women in our society.
If our Muslim women will not go for politics from West Bengal then other women will go for it, those have no knowledge regarding to Islam and Islamic principles and will work against of our Islamic rules. Then who will raise voice our Muslim Ummah. So participation of Muslim women in politics is very necessary for the up liftmen of Muslim community.
Women before Islam
There was no right for the women in the property of their parents, they were neglected. Before 6th century, women were not considered equal to male. They had no right in the property of their parents. Even the birth of women was considered as humiliation to the whole family. So usually, they buried them alive.
Here is a painful story, one day a man came to prophet and told him what he had done with his daughter “o, messenger of Allah, I had a daughter one day I asked her mother to dress her well, then I was taking her to her uncle but my wife was know that what was my intention but she could do nothing without weeping she dressed the little girl, she was very happy, that she was going to her uncle house. I took her close to a and told her to look down in to the well, while she was looking the well I kicked her in to it while she was falling down , she shouted daddy but I did not pick her up by hearing this prophet Muhammad (s) rears began rolling down on prophet cheek.
This was the bad condition of women before Islam totally they had no rights to do anything.
But Prophet Muhammad (s) proclaimed in sixth century that, the heaven is beneath the feet of mother its mean you cannot enter the heaven, if you neglected them, on another occasion prophet (s) said the best of you are these who are the best words women, this was the position of words women. Totally prophet could leer about a great revelation and changed the people though his teachings.
For example one day a person came to prophet and said who my best companionship prophet is said your mother.
Women after Islam
It is precise matter that women had not rights before Islam. After corning Islam women had given their rights, Prophet Muhammad (s) fought for inheritance of women, and this was the first war in history of mankind for women emancipation.
But some people who deliberately try to degrade Islam. There are some other people who are ignorant about the realities.
Then prophet replied “your mother then he asked again who the best is? prophet replied your mother prophet Muhammad said three time for mother and given forth position for father this prophet exalted the women position in the community this was the revelation brought lay prophet this was the position which had given in Islam.
Leadership of Muslim Women in Quran
According to Quran, Allah had given the men and women same order to worship him such as in performing prayers and fasting. Although as for men have incumbent to perform prayer and giving zakat it’s for women too. Both are preventing from evil and enjoin what good. In these situations both are same participants, as Allah says holy Quran
“Some of you from others”
It means one is partner of other both are same each other and another place in Quran:
“Oh people” and in another place “oh believers” these two verses are donating to men and women also and all jurisprudence are agreement on this commentary.
Someone is claiming that men have the supreme power then women and they are proving from Quran:
“Men are guardians over women by what Allah has favored some over others and by what they spend of their wealth”
But it means if one woman participate in politics does not mean that she is strength then man, otherwise that will against of this Quranic verse. The strength of men over women refers to the physical strength of men which is only on average much greater than women. It will be a big mistake to prevent Muslim women from their political right because in this verse did not mention about the preventing of Muslim women in politics. Al-Qurtubi comments on this verse:
“It means men sustain women by spending upon them and defending than. Likewise among man are rulers, commanders, and those who wage military campaigns; it is not like that among women”
Allah mentioned the strength of men on above world that is specific in his home only man are only deserve to be gardens in their home. a women cannot ne guardians of are home therefore Allah ordered to take responsibility of spending on man and it is obvious that the responsibility of expense is limited with in home not be on the home from that we know the strength of man which Allah mentioned that is limited with in their home . The man is stronger than women solely in their home, so this verse is not restricts the Muslim women in participating in polities.
Leadership of Muslim Women in Hadeeth
Through the Hadeeth we can say the women can be an authority and leadership in any position she want except prayer leader and supreme commander of armed forces because some positions are specific to the man such as position of prayer leader supreme commander of forces .though some scholars are not agree with it others permitted women to serve as a judge in various capacities in which she is qualified as prophet Muhammad (saw) said “ women are the partner of man” they’re helping each other both are preaching Islam and preventing what is evil .
So, both are doing same Oder and work and both have equality in Islam some scholars are proclaiming that Muslims women cannot participate in politics on the Islamic perspective and they are proving by Hadeeth:
“That community never be success which is leaded by a women” this Hadeeth is denoting that if a women leads a community then that community will never success, that’s why this is not amicable for a women to participate in any women position of politics.
Hence the Hadeeth narrated in the context of kisra’s daughter. After the death of Kisra Persian people nominated her daughter as their king in Persia, and it is clear that her daughter was no so good she famous for his selfishness. That’s why Prophet Muhammad (swa) said that “which community have women leader that community will never success. So this Hadeeth is specific for kisra’s daughter not for all women. In cursory glance in this current situation
No one is selfish in India as democratic country he may be prime minister or president, because all of them asks suggestions from ministers and member before taking any action or making any rules. And they have face many obstacles from opposition parties, it mean no one is doing work with selfishness. It will not right to prevent women from participating in politics by making base of this Hadeeth.
Women’s Leadership According To Some Scholars
Some scholars are against of Muslim women for participating in politics and to giving them political rights, and they showing their proof from Quran and Hadeeth first they are giving proof from Quran:
‘And a century in your homes ’
This verse is not denoting to the permissible of women to go out from their houses without any reason. But according to the researcher this evidence is no acceptable to
By seeing contest, it’s clear that this, Oder is not for common women but this verse is only for the wives of prophet Muhammad saw. By this contest Allah says in Quran:
“Wives of prophet, you are not like any other women. If you fear god, do not be too soft –spoken in case the ill-intentioned should feel tempted. Speak in an appropriate manner”.
And it is witnessed that being prophet’s wives their manner and culture are not like others women’s culture and lifestyle, that’s why they had given Oder to stay in their houses in most of time. Even this Oder Ayisha(R) went out from her home and she participated in Uhud war and she was leading the all forces. Hence we know that, to go outside to complete any religion work it’s an Islamic act if any women go out from her home for the purpose of religions work. The Muslim women are going out from their home to do different kinds of works even this Oder. Many Islamic scholars give them permission to go outside if they need anything but with wearing veil. So they will not prevent to entering in politics.
Muslim’s Women Leadership in the Era of Prophet Muhammad [PBUH]
The Muslim woman had been given political rights in the era of Prophet Muhammad [PBUH] and history witnessed that, the men and women both of them were doing their duties to preach the Islam and they command on the good act preventing from evil. It’s also clear that the wife of prophet, Khadija [R], who was the first woman, made protest in the support of Prophet Muhammad [PBUH] and Sumaiya was the first Muslim women who became martyr in Islam. Most of companions participated in the religious war and they also raise weapon in war at the needy time, and they killed many polytheism people.
When companions pilgrimage spreading of Islam then they also put pilgrimage with the companions there are only few week ha Hadeethwhich are denoting to the festinating Muslim women and leadership by this Muslim’s women political rights. We need much confirmation and verification from Quran to proving forbidden of anything, and there is a third proof after Quran and Hadeethand that is situation and environment of the time. Because the Islamic rules are changing period, and the jurisprudence are consensus on that changing of Islamic rules according to the changes of period, and it is clear that, the people of this period are not like the who were living fourteen hundreds years ago. They were totally differing from this modern age. And the conditions of one democracy country were differing from another Islamic country, and prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was also taking actions by seeing the current situation and environment of that time.
In the beginning of announcement of prophetic, Muhammad (PBHU) ordered according to the situation and that time and after pilgrimage and when Islam become strong he ordered different from first order and the companions was also taking action on the same method. For this reason Islam is the best and flexible religion in the world by it name we know that the Islam is religion of peace and harmony and it rules are also best from other religion, because only in Islam has the possibility of changing rules according to the current situation and that period for this reason Islam is flexible religion best flexible religion in the world and its riles are also best from other religion’s rules due to the possibility of changing rules according to the period and time.
Muslim Women’s Leadership in the Era of Caliphs
In a brief scratch, the men and women were completing their responsibilities together for Islam. They were preaching Islam with collaborating each other. They were ready to sacrifice their life for Islam and for the love of prophet. They were enjoining what is good and preventing from evil. In this contest Allah says in noble Quran
“The believers, both men and women are friends to each other; they enjoin what is good and forbid evil”
The history witnessed that, the women and men were doing works for Islam and completing their deities in the era of prophet and caliphs. In the occasion of Hudawiya treaty Prophet Muhammad (PBHU) discussed political matter with UmmaSalma ® and Prophet Muhammad (PBHU) performer took action according to mentioned discussion, then he got acceptable result. Most of people know the history that Umar ® was performing Surmon (khutba) in a mosque, and in this moment an old lady criticized and scurried on the Surmon of Umar ® I front of entire gathering. Then Umar ® accepted his mistake and said in that big Surmon, old lady is accurate and Umar had mistaken.
Like this, there are many tangible proves which are preexist in historical books or biographical books.
So, researcher thinks that, if a woman has ability and potential that she can bring revelation and can complete her responsibility very well then she had been given that political right. Then she could good leader for the Muslim community will be a good therefore Umar ® was sleet al- Shifa bint Abdullah al- Adawiyya as a cashier of a market by seeing her ability and skill. Now we can be guessing that position. So if we ignore their potential and skill and we do not provide them their political right that’s -mean we lost the skill which had been given by Allah.
It is very heinous thing that the stillness women are neglected and restricted from political position or any leadership that’s why the non Muslims women and religion less women become the minister of member instead of that who are working against of Islamic principle while they are making any rules, they are making rules with ignorant the Islamic rules so if there were Muslim women them they could good for Muslim women and could spread Islam by their activity regarding within Islam.
