Trigger warning: communal violence, Islamophobia
Dear RSS,
You didn’t just demolish a Masjid :
You demolished the very idea on which this country was made upon
You assaulted article 25 of Indian Constitution, Which allows a person to practice, profess and propagate their own religion
You smacked the communal harmony upon which this country was blossomed.
You killed the soul of democracy.
You flattened secularism,
you tore down the fundamental rights of minorities.
You tarnished the dignity of the temple of justice by showing callous disregard to its orders.
This country was known for its indomitable virtues of compassion, empathy , love and tolerance.
But your cowardice act paved the way for intolerance, the term this country had never familiar with since its 10,000 years long history.
It was the land where Buddhism was born and flourished.
It was the land, where the great king Ashoka preached the phenomenal lessons ( Dhamma) on tolerance and empathy.
The land on which Akbar promoted peaceful coexistence.
The land on which Swami Vivekanand advocated freedom and equality.
The land which was the birthplace of the epitome of peace- Mahatma Gandhi.
The land which accommodated all the religions of the world.
But what you did to this land and its people?
You sowed the seeds of hatred and communalism.
You broke the trust of 20 Crore Muslims, who were Indian ; by birth ; by choice
You sidelined them from dominant politics and governance.
You put them at the verge of neglect and discrimination
You compelled them to leave their ancestral place and limit themselves in ghettos, which eventually became the dumping ground for trash( Juhapura Ahmedabad)
You snatched away their right to live with dignity.
Your cowardice act was a stepping stone to systematically marginalised them. That today they are doing worse than SC/ST in all spheres of life.
Instead of being able to study in prestigious institutions and acquiring skills they are slapped with UAPA and other dracuna acts of colonial time. their precious youth is getting wasted in jail as undertrials.
You just didn’t demolish a Mosque but you vilified one particular community to the extent that they were made to prove their patriotism every day. They are lynched, They are bullied, They are tortured . You did these callous acts in the name of Maryada Purshottam Ram who is “Imam E Hind” in the eyes of Indian Muslim.
Your sheer madness unleashed riots and many mothers lost their sons, many women were widowed, many children were orphaned. But you know what was more brutal than that physical hurt, The Psychological trauma that tarnished their self esteem and shattered their precious dreams.
You created New India where anyone could abuse the father of nation and get away but talking against atrocities and injustice became anti national act.
You created New India where a semiliterate bollywood actress questions the credibility of India’s struggle for independence.
You created New India which celebrates human right violations in Kashmir and North East.
You created New India where you have to be mindful of caste and faith before falling in love.
You created New India Which is not tolerant.
You created New India which lack love and empathy.
You betrayed minority. You betrayed Ram. You betrayed Gautam Buddha , You betrayed Ashoka’s Dhamma, You betrayed Guru Nanak, You betrayed Ramanand, You betrayed Mahavir Swami, You betrayed Bhagat Singh, You betrayed Mahatma Gandhi.
You betrayed Bharat. You betrayed Hindustan. You betrayed India.
And nation will never ever forgive you for this.
But amidst everything, amidst all the wounds, amidst all the trauma, amidst all the humility, amidst all the neglect and discrimination.
The love of Muslims for this nation and it’s people is still intact.
We were compelled to live in a small houses of a ghetto but we are ready to die for this country.
We are less educated and don’t understand international issues but when China or Pakistan attacks India. We remember our country during the Khutba ( sermons) given on Friday and Eid.
When we aspire to join government services , we don’t do it because it’s prestigious but our aim is to become a part of nation building.
When we raise our hands in front of Allah , we pray for the unity. We pray for the brotherhood. We pray for peace. We pray for India.
No demolition of our religious places , No genocide, No mob lynching , No discrimination can take away the tremendous love we have for this country .
You can definitely destroy our religious places and our self esteem but you can not destroy our belief and our faith in the idea of India.
