NGO Hamari Pahchaan’s Impact On Education

According to Pew Research Centre, the poor in India live on $2 or less daily. Considering that over 134 million Indians live in extreme poverty, education is a distant dream for most children that belong to underprivileged sections of the society. Education is a key tool to overcome poverty, however the poor, due to lack of financial resources get stuck in a vicious cycle leading to inter generational poverty and illiteracy.

To combat this, the NGO Hamari Pahchaan, under Project Drishti aims to eliminate the gap between underprivileged and privileged children by focusing on providing them with basic education by way of training sessions, in addition to focusing on their holistic development by empowering them with vocational training and basic life skills. Project Drishti has had a significant impact since its initiation, managing to educate over 11,250 children and has hosted more than 3000 distribution drives providing necessary stationery supplies. A key component of this project is the initiative ‘Gadgetshala’ which aims to facilitate education and aid learning through modern means, using the internet and gadgets.
