Indian Women Are Taught To Tolerate Everything In A Relationship

Trigger warning: slut-shaming, victim-blaming

Nothing changed after Nirbhaya gang rape case that shook our nation. Nothing changed after Hyderabad rape case. Nothing changed in our country after Hathras Gang rape case.

Now, in a recent gruesome case of the Mehrauli murder which has woken people of India from their slumber, of course, for some time, will change anything?

I was talking to my mother about this case. But the conversation only made me realize I live in India where ONLY WOMEN ARE BLAMED AND THAT TOO MOSTLY BY WOMEN.

So, I don’t wonder anymore there must be endless people who would still be blaming her because she chose her partner, she went against her family, she was staying with her partner and we can all see the outcome of her decisions.

I stopped the conversation when my mother said, “Aaj kal ki ladkiyan pagal ho gayi hain”.

And there must be so many people who would be blaming the religion of this man.

Before this case fades away from our minds, I have certainly many things to say to people who think just like my mother.

So let me say,

“Kya India me marital rapes ni hote ya this is normal?! Kya hi farak padta hai!”

Don’t girls undergo hormonal changes ya fir ladke to hote hi ase hain! Islie girls should be careful.

Kya ladkiyan arranged marriages me suicide ni karti?

Don’t women get murdered in arranged marriages?

Or Domestic abuse is rising to isko to normalise ho hi jana chahiye!

It was this woman who was beaten for months, she was the woman who was brutally murdered by the person she loved the most and it was the man who was roaming freely and romanticising with other women without a pang of guilt.

It was this woman who was trapped. She was the one who needed help.

I don’t understand how many horrific cases we need to witness to understand, it’s boys who need to learn how to treat a woman as a human being.

Even in this case, She gave him many chances. No matter how educated she was or modern she was, as a true Indian girl, she tolerated everything to save her relationship as this is the most important thing taught to us right from our childhood.

Certainly, We girls really need to unlearn to stop tolerating everything!!
