Political Perfection – Is It Possible?

The thing with which we will start is that no country has achieved a perfect political state. Why is every country infected with corruption? Why one can’t have a free state with law-abiding citizens. As I start off, we have to look into past matters.

Politics is something related to matters of state, governance. It is, in a rough sense, a study of the government and its choices for the betterment of the country, whether to do this or not. While two parties fight everyday for the country, they mostly have no intention of fighting but promoting.

So the idea of it is to grow the state and better the infrastructure for people. But when you look at every government, the idea has frequently failed miserably as every time corruption has come with the government, so with politics. For which I can say that the psychology of an individual gives the answer for the corruption of the government. Like it is said from ancient times, ” Man is a greedy animal”. So from that, corruption is born. As by doing politics, one can get the high power, influence, authority and on the other hand, one can get as much money as they want which comes with the fearlessness of laws. As one often thinks that being on high authority gives one permission to act free from laws too. Which is very apparent in current events. So this can be a reason behind the crippling of the state.

In ancient times, if you look into the records, the fight for power was so intense that it resulted in many downfalls of rulers. Epics like Mahabharata described ” The thirst for power as the worst thing”. The death of Caesar, Cleopatra’s evil genius and so on. In the modern times, the assassinations of famous presidents/ rulers like John F Kennedy, Lal bahadur shastri. So the ideal politics turned into evil politics since its inception. So they are coexisting from the very start.

As a society, it should have morals, virtues. But in politics, morality has no place. It is often described as “Dirty politics”. And corruption is very much part of it. One can argue that education can reduce corruption and this and that but If I say, giving an example of Seneca, who is often described as ‘hypocrite’. He gave all the advice but didn’t follow any of it. He put unnecessary taxes, bought things which were of no need and so on. So as in politics, corruption is inevitable unfortunately. As the human mind is wicked, it will find its ways to exploit the power which it can get through politics.

The structure for morals in a society needs to be constructed. ‘ If you corrupt youth, you can corrupt the whole country ‘ which perfectly suits India the most. But finding ways to end corruption would turn this into a pretty cliched article which was oftentimes in the school events as a topic. So this is a rough presentation of the idea I had in my mind.
