Journey Of An Illusion Make-Up, Body Illusion Artist Mounali Goswami

Art is love and perhaps the goal for an artist is the fulfillment of it (love). By fulfillment, here I mean completion.

Silchar-based make-up, eye make-up, prosthetics, mask make-up, illusion make-up and body illusion artist Mounali Goswami loves her work without bothering for the limelight. Though all of her works have earned her love, admiration and appreciation, she does not hanker after name and fame. Make-up artists are common these days, but body illusion artists, rare. Mounali is rarer, perhaps rarest of all (at least in this part of the country). Mounali, born and brought up in Silchar, has always dreamt of making it big (not by earning a name and fame, but by completing her dream works).

Hailing from the city of love and poets ‘Silchar’, Mounali was brought up by her father, Moloy Goswami, and her mother, Archana Goswami. It was make-up, which became a vital aspect of her life. But, she has always been looked at with raised eyebrows/sceptical eyes by society. Why? Because make-up is yet to enter the mainstream, right?

“I was interested in beauty products. Such products used to attract me a lot. It does even today. I started to admire the process as a form of art in itself. Soon enough, the hobby was shaped into a profession, with people’s love and appreciation. It encouraged me to take it up as a profession. The completion of a bridal make-up course in Kolkata changed things in my life. I started to follow pages and people on Instagram for more encouragement and inspiration. Mimles and Mimi Choi influenced me a lot,” says Mounali Goswami.

“Her body illusions and several make-up tricks attracted me. Her works became my inspiration. In fact, she tempted me to take a great liking for the art of body illusion. I always take pride in being addressed and acknowledged for my art and passion. My journey from a make-up artist to a body and illusion artist has been glorious. I am hopeful about a bright future. I’ll always be thankful to my parents for supporting me in my journey,” adds the talented Mounali Goswami.

Mounali Goswami studied at N.C. Paul Memorial College, Silchar, and Vivekananda Junior College of Commerce and Arts, Silchar. She paints and draws too. Her mind-blowing illusion art and body art have been well admired by all. She has definitely sailed against the tides. Her works speak volumes. She has also applied her skills to one or more local films. Her birth date is November 5.
