DY Chandrachud who recently was sworn as Chief Justice of India looks visibly and clearly upset with the approach and attitude of centre blatantly refusing the files suggesting judge,s name to collegium as per seniority the inordinate delay being caused in the process is a reason for worry with the office of CJI publicly expressing their discontent and dissatisfaction. Shouldn’t the centre be pulling up its socks fairly cooperating and coordinating with the judiciary on issues concerning the national interest, territoriality and sovereignty.
From Pulwama attacks to Pegasus top functionaries and brass of current dispensation appears tight lipped choosing other alternatives for digressing the focus of the electorate from matters influencing and impacting their everyday existence enhancing their anxieties and despair to a point of no return. Political class has made a hell and mockery of our judiciary which otherwise should have been neutral, transparent and independent of outside control. The current scenario presents a bleak picture of our judiciary starving and struggling keeping the letter and spirit of our constitution alive.
How then can it remain inclusive, diverse and pluralistic reaching out to different segments and sections of our population standing up against an executive blurring the lines of separation of power can prove to be fatal to the conception of rights and liberty enshrined in the preamble to the constitution.
