You might think that you are free since you are living in liberal democratic world having varying rights. What if I tell you that you are probably not right, it is your false consciousness. You must be wondering How ?
Let’s try to take you out of this unconscious stage . Only having no restriction is not freedom. It is when you are free to do what you want. Even what you want is not your own rather shaped by your ideology, belief, attitude which you inherit from society. Your ideology is guided by something which is quite dominant in the society and has become a common sense. For instance, a person born in patriarchal society will most probably have anti feminist ideology. Moreover who we are as a person is not original but a product of our socialisation. The choices we are making is highly shaped by let’s say prevailing hegemonic ideas.
Thus, we saw how unfree we are in real sense. Hence the real freedom lies in the state where we as a person realise our true self and make choices accordingly.We have become artificial being doing what system wants us to do. Unfortunately,that stae of being is not easily possible to realise but not impossible at the same time.
