Zoom, An Army Dog Who Fought J&K Militants Despite Injuries, Has Died.

Zoom, the Army’s assault dog, died on Thursday while undergoing treatment after receiving two gunshot wounds during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Zoom died around 12 p.m. at the Advance Field Veterinary Hospital, according to Army officials quoted by news agency ANI. “He was responding well until about 11.45 a.m., when he suddenly began gasping and collapsed,” they said.

After receiving information about the presence of militants, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Tangpawa area of Anantnag district on Sunday night. On Monday morning, Zoom was dispatched inside the house where the militants were suspected to be hiding.

He was critically injured after receiving two bullet wounds while locating and attacking the militants. Despite being wounded, the canine continued to attack the militants, assisting in efforts to neutralise them, according to the Army.

Two Lashkar-e-Taiba militants were killed and two soldiers were injured in the clash.
