We Go Down Six Notches In This Year’s Hunger Index

Recent news rather concerned us for our great country slips six notches to reach 107th position in the Global Hunger Index, 2022 of 121 countries, from its previous year’s position of 101st. This makes us think that we are just up above merely  14 countries like our rupee is not dwindling, but the dollar is strengthening and winter is not enough but people are getting older.

Is it not discomforting us that our country lags behind its close-bordered neighbours like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal in matters straight related to hunger? No negative words really come to mind for China as it holds its extraordinary position among the top four countries possibly. Why are we constantly going downward? It is too odd to realise such a sort of phenomenon.

Why do our pot-bellied politicians bother not a fig? They do not attend to think of the poor, poverty and hunger usually of seven types. Though they only aim to be profited from their votes in the elections by raising the slogan of hunger removal. They forget their commitment towards providing food to the hungry ones sooner.

However, our currency is losing its sheen day after day thereby forfeiting its integral purchasing power. Here the problem of the poor people begins. Since it is also clear their income remains quite scant generally, their hunger is considerably unsatisfied with limited money. For them, whatever they do collect fetches them little grains and other food so they are obliged to pass their lives in utter hunger. Because every item sells at a higher rate, they do not manage to pay for more items. That’s why they remain half hungry. Nobody cares about them.

At present what is worth seeing is the stall of packed sweets aison display for the festival sale but oddly enough loose-quality rice remains out of stock from these kinds of shops. This is the tragedy of our time. When staple ingredients will not be put in the shops our people are bound to remain hungry.

It is because of this approach we are going down to dethe cleaning level in the global hunger index. How will then a common man satisfy his/her hunger for eating rice in such a persisting situation? We all know one’s stomach fills with roti, chawal and dal, but all ingredients are distancing. So the result exposes our number in the global  hunger report.
