I Asked A Research Consultant How She Would Like To Reimagine Media

Nimar: Tell and explain about yourself and your job?

Jasleen: I am Jasleen Anand and I work as a Research Consultant with an executive research firm. My role primarily revolves around understanding the c-suite and board member requirements and helping the client companies in recruitment and in onboarding process of the executive.

Nimar: How often do you watch news?

Jasleen: I am not an avid news consumer, but I scroll through headlines on the Google which provides me a high-level overview of the latest happening in the country and the world.

Nimar: Have you ever heard any fake news and what was your reaction when you knew about it? Share your experiences with us.

Jasleen: Most of the new pieces that come across through social media apps like Facebook or whatspp are fake in my experience. I oftenuse them as a good dose of laughter. But on a serious note, social media has now become like”the boy who cried wolf” and people tend not to believe the credible stories from these platforms as well, which is a bad situation.

Nimar: How does news help you in your professional?

Jasleen: Not really.

Nimar: According to you which is the easiest platform you get news of our country or the world?

Jasleen: I suppose it is important to understand who the credible journalists are and their personal accounts on social media and YOU TUBE often have the information you are looking for. Some of them for example are independent journalists like Samdish Bhatia and Faye D’Souza.

Nimar: What type of news you usually prefer watching?

Jasleen: Like I said, I am not an avid consumer. So, I believe while it is important to know what is happening around the world, I prefer news with facts and to be crisp and with spun around.
