In an interview to Prothom Alo before the release of ‘Lal Singh Chadha’, Aamir Khan said that he will not bring the film to OTT before six months. But seeing the poor performance of the film at the box office, Aamir again sang the opposite tune. He was desperate to bring the remake film to OTT within a month. As per rules a film can be released in OTT within two months of its release. And so Netflix brought ‘Lal Singh Chadha’ to OTT within two months of its release. In a post on social media, Netflix wrote, ‘Get the Popcorn Thudi Golgappa ready, because “Lal Singh Chaddha” is out now.
‘Lal Singh Chadha’ was supposed to release in OTT next year. But after the ultimate failure at the box office, the makers wanted to bring the film to the OTT world in a hurry. However, it is known that Aamir negotiated with Netflix for the release in OTT. Aamir bid Rs 150 crore for ‘Lal Singh Chadha’ OTT release. But Netflix was not willing to pay this amount. Meanwhile, Aamir was also unrepentant. Finally, the deal was settled for Rs. 80 crore.
The film ‘Lal Singh Chadha’ did not even make 100 crores at the box office. From the budget of 180 crores the film did not go to the pocket of the makers more than 75 crores. Directed by Advait Chandan, the film stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Naga Chaitanya, Mona Singh and others besides Aamir Khan.
Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor in Lal Singh Chadha Rakshabandhan released on the same day as Aamir’s ‘Lal Singh Chadha’. The Akshay Kumar starrer was even worse. The film ‘Rakshabandhan’ has also already hit the OTT market. The film was released on Z5.
