Imran Khan Disqualified By Election Commission For Five Years

Pakistan's former prime minister Imran Khan seated in his office.

PTI leader and former Premier of Pakistan Imran Khan has been disqualified by the election commission for five years for not disclosing the proceeds of gifts he received from foreign leaders in the Toshakhana case a move seen by his supporters and enthusiasts as a vendetta with PTI sweeping recently concluded by elections. Protests have erupted in different pockets and corners of Pakistan with his party men clashing with security forces literally bringing everything to a grinding halt. In my understanding, it would be advantage Imran as Shahbaz Sharif is proving to be inept and incompetent in arresting the tide in domestic politics playing on the pitch of emotive and cultural issues resulting in popular discontent and resentment amongst the common and ordinary. Secondly,  in the absence of a coherent blue print and road map it is increasingly becoming challenging for a leader like Sharif to gauge the nerve and pulse of people burdened with inflation  unemployment etc as people aren’t expecting much from the new rulers whose only aim and agenda was to oust Imran Khan from power but for lack of merit in their governance people are feeling cheated and disillusioned with a politics being reduced to a show of strength, perception, propaganda and rhetoric. Difficult to predict if it will get anytime better sooner than later

A word like hope too sounding little and empty!
