Creative expressions are under grave threat of being seized, targeted and boycotted stirring sentiments of a section. Are, we becoming too heated and mindless getting provoked by the displays and depictions of an act challenging our set of beliefs, passions and emotions can we think of validating and justifying our reactions to it which may not sound reasonable at all.
Getting irked and annoyed over something we disagree or disapprove has greatly gripped is making it increasingly challenging to come off its skin. From, a Tanishq to a Fab India we have seen how objectification of our rituals and practices by the market for commercial edge and benefits cause agony and despair to a few within us when at the very first place its a mere artistry striking a chord with our consumerist pulses which in my view shouldn’t at all make us feel us embarrassed and offended.
Unfortunately, the recent AU Bank advertorial by Aamir Khan and Kiara Advani has been charged with the count of ridiculing and mocking the majority faith showcasing a diametrically opposite view of a bride and groom’s griha parvesh.
Maybe this advertorial won’t find its audience but for the unnecessarily repulsive over reaction to it was certainly the most inaccurate and inappropriate thing at this juncture shamming a society otherwise tolerant and appreciative of differences negotiating and mediating it’s way through arguments and dialogue by getting enraged and embroiled in wilderness we are only becoming prone to insecurities and vulnerabilities of the past and history.
