For anyone who wants to pursue PhD in India, there are a few options to choose from. Research isn’t the most developed aspect of education here, but with an influx of students in higher education, we can get there.
So here are some options to choose from:
- Indian Institute of Technology: Not only does one of India’s premier institutes for engineering have an option for the science stream, but you can also get PhD in Humanities and Social Sciences. Honestly, don’t be confused by the “Technology” part; it has an excellent faculty for non-science streams too.
- University of Delhi: It has so many different departments and schools that whichever stream you pick up, you can pursue your PhD over here. I don’t even need to tell you how sought-after this is.
- Jadavpur University, Kolkata: This university is excellent for Humanities and Social Sciences students, but its PhDs in English are highly sought after.
- Jawarharlal Nehru University, Delhi: JNU is one of the top universities to do your PhD in. It’s competitive, but also one of the most economical PhDs in India.
- Tata Institute of Social Sciences: As the name suggests, it’s for social sciences. You will get access to some of the best faculty around. Hint: It also has a cousin called the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, dedicated to sciences and mathematics.
