Trigger warning: rape, murder
People who remained silent in Bilkis Bano case are as much murderers of Ankita Bhandari as any politician’s son. The cases are so different yet are rooted in the reality – In new India everything is permissible if you have the slogan of the ruling party in your hand. You can do a hate crime, rape, kill and the law would itself make sure that the proofs are invisible just in time.
People who celebrated Bilkis Bano’s rapists don’t seem to be talking much on social media after Ankita Bhandari murder, probably because this time the victim was from their own religion and accuse from the party. “Ghar ki baat hai ji”..
Tell me again when did this country start treating rapists as “innocent” and “sanskari”?
Last time this country outraged against a rape and murder it was for Nirbhaya but now I see this silence which is scary because it is made up of fear. Fear of being suspended, killed, publicly lynched, arrested because you chose to speak against “the system”.
People blinded in hate reason everything to the mark of accuracy of their belief and hence this murder would make no difference in their admiration of an on paper governance which in reality is crumbled to the extent of hopelessness.
Ankita Bano or Bilkis Bhandari, doesn’t make a difference because it is more about the unconditional support today’s politics gives to anything that keeps them in power.
Lesson here is for the sheep, the public, that refuses to learn and blindly aides an idea of hate no matter how much it justifies crime and brutality.
Any woman rich or poor; from the majority or minority; from your religion or not, is still a woman and Her Dignity, Her Choice, Her Beliefs are all her rights and politician’s son or a party boot licker doesn’t have any authority on the planet to force her into what she once refuses. I have said this before NO is a complete sentence and this rule doesn’t change for a politician’s son.
There is An Ankita, A Bilkis in every home and this is fire that if not vanquished would reach your home as well one day.
