Droupadi Murmu created history becoming the first tribal woman president for a community striving and struggling to preserve its unique and distinct identity however I partially agree that her ascendancy to the top constitutional chair will amuse and excite those who think of an equal political representation and role in different legislative assemblies, bodies and councils and an end to state repression, atrocities and brutalities practiced and prevalent against this community in different pockets and regions.
Ramnath Kovind too didn’t made lives of schedule castes any better either as for the mentality orchestrating a typical behaviour towards these sections and communities a conscious political plot to extend and expand its outreach in tribal dominated areas and belts especially for its popularity waning and dwindling in such regions where they are still unsure of their prospects maybe building permanent community and caste blocs read SCs, STs and OBCs consciously cultivating a kind of goodwill ensuring it’s successes at the ballot unmatched by the rivals of BJP playing on the pitch of cultural and economic nationalism convincing, arousing, organizing and mobilizing public opinions and sentiments supporting it’s programs and policies supposedly on ethnic lines and considerations is posing tougher challenges for democracy which is still in infancy in a country like India where caste and community complement each other rather being contradictory through set of norms, forms and codes of conduct for its members something which BJP successfully tapped into with Kovind and Murmu as highlights. A fragmented, disarrayed and disunited opposition can neither be the answer nor the alternative for a Murmu illustrating and showcasing her purchase and potentials will definitely boost the spirits of her supporters and followers as it’s not less than what they deserved at the first place
