China Is On The Verge Of Facing A Drought-like Situation

Cracks in Land due to drought

How Does India Value Water?

If China is on the verge of facing a drought-like situation, will its cloud-seeding aircraft do wonders in such a precarious situation? Who knows? High temperature and low rain are the real problems there. Even a big and mighty country like China can not control the impending natural disaster. Only exact precautions can save China from harmful situations. The paucity and profundity of water are dangerous without a doubt or question.

Although China has begun to demonstrate its deep concern at the increase in demand for electricity, the situation ahead will only exacerbate the crisis. The electricity demand has, meanwhile, increased by 25% this summer, China’s local media reported. Side by side, the loss of water flow to China’s extensive hydropower system has sparked a grave situation in Sichuan which gets more than 80% of its energy from hydropower. The impending situation is out and out bleak as the news goes.

Will China face dried-up rivers as forecasts hint? To authenticate this gravity, a nationwide drought alert was sounded there. This kind of weather crisis indicates that a long-running and severe heatwave in the heavily populated southwest region was foreseen to continue in the coming month too. This sort of alertness could not only halt shipping companies from putting out vessels into the deep water, halting shipping and, above all, hydropower generation capacity, but also result in drying up parts of the world’s third largest Yangtze river and other rivers.

China may plummet into a supposedly disastrous circumstance of droughts. An aerial view of the Three Gorges Dam in south China’s Hubei province in August 2021 has exposed the terrible problem. In the meantime, China cuts electricity use as record heatwave takes its toll. Recently, the provincial government declared it was at the highest warning level of particularly severe, with water flow to Sichuan’s hydropower reservoirs dropping by half.
