There has been a police complaint against Ranveer Singh due to a nude photoshoot. Know what is the law regarding nudity in India is – 

A police complaint has been filed against Ranveer Singh for a nude photoshoot. According to media reports, an NGO in Mumbai Based has filed an FIR complaint against Ranveer Singh, accusing him of hurting the sentiments of women. 

The complaint letter was given at Chembur (Mumbai) police station. The NGO has demanded registration of the case under various sections of the IT Act and IPC. However, the police registered FIR under Various IPC Sections Like 292, 293 and 509.

After these viral nude photos of Ranveer Singh, a Mumbai-based NGO, Neki Ki Deewar, held a cloth donation drive for Ranveer Singh.

What Is The Information Technology Act?

Cybercrime is mentioned under the Information Technology Act, 2000. Publication of obscene information in electronic form has been an offence under section 67 of this Act. If found guilty under this section, he can be punished with imprisonment for a term extending to five years or a fine extending to one lakh. Later it can be increased to 10 years imprisonment and a fine up to Rs 2 lakh. Apart from this, action can also be taken against nudity under The Indian Penal Code, 1860.

What Is The Law In India Regarding Nudity?

Delhi High Court advisor and advocate Praveen Dalal have told a media outlet that India has many laws against nudity. The Indian Penal Code, 1860 and Information Technology Act, 2000 are used. These laws penalize those who spread obscenity and obscenity in real space and cyberspace. Punishment of imprisonment is also given for obscene acts and songs under section 294 of IPC.

What Did Ranveer Do?

Recently Ranveer Singh has done a nude photoshoot for Paper magazine. Ranveer’s pictures have created panic on social media. However, Ranveer considers nudity very comfortable. An interview of Ranveer has also been published in the paper magazine, in which he says, “I can be nude in front of thousands of people. I don’t mind. But people do matter. They get uncomfortable.”
