What Is CUET?
Earlier known as CUCET (Central Universities Common Entrance Test), it was conducted as an admission test to seven central universities. With NEP 2020, it became CUET (Common University Entrance Test). Now it’s mandatory for all 45 central universities, while some state and deemed universities accept it too. It is conducted by the NTA (National Testing Agency).
Its aim is to provide a common platform to get admitted in various universities after Class 12. It is envisioned to be beneficial for students, cutting down on confusion, especially for those living in remote areas. More importantly, it makes anxiety inducing class 12 marks and cut-offs a thing of the past.
What Is The Exam Pattern?
The CUET 2022 consist of language test, domain-specific test and a general test. It is an objective type, multiple-choice question based paper. It is organised in four sections.
- Section IA: 13 languages (40 MCQs to be answered out of 50 in 45 Minutes)
- Section IB: 19 languages (40 MCQs to be answered out of 50 in 45 Minutes)
- Section II: 27 domain-specific subjects (40 MCQs to be answered out of 50 in 45 Minutes)
- Section III: General Test (60 MCQs to be answered out of 75 in 60 minutes)
Students have a wide range of options, i.e. 27 subjects, 33 Languages and a general test to choose from. Candidates can opt for 9 subjects in a combination of 2 languages and 6 domain-specific subject or 3 languages and 5 domain-specific tests. It will be conducted in two slots of 45-195 minutes and 45-225 minutes duration.

Slot-2: Upto 5 Tests/Subjects
Section IA & IB: One Language
Section II: Maximum of Four Domain-Specific Subjects

What Is The Eligibility Criteria?
Students who have passed Class 12 from a recognized school board can apply to appear in the exam. Those who have failed in even one subject cannot appear for the exam. Admission to the university is dependent on the university to are applying to, be sure to check it out.

What Is The Syllabus?

When Is The Exam?
CUET 2022 will be conducted in July 2022. It will be conducted only once.
What Is The Fee Of The Exam?
For slot I, upto 4 subjects, it’s ₹650 for general category, ₹600 for OBC/EWS categories and ₹550 for SC/ST/PwBD/Third Gender categories. It’s the same for slot II, upto 5 subjects.
