Why Are Cab Companies Being Allowed To Exploit Their Drivers?

Why are cab companies like Oba and Uber are so passive from revising per kilometre fare for cabbies, especially for long routes, unnecessarily creating issues and troubles for commuters, when they have to reach somewhere early.

Shouldn’t they be made to realise the economic hardships and financial insecurities these drivers are facing? Rising inflation and job insecurity has made their lives worse than worst.

It would be better for the governments to take a considered stand, keeping in mind the interests and aspirations of the drivers, who don’t have a permanent source of income. Rather, they depend on what they get through these rides, minus the “little” commission charged by the companies.

Most of them have been at the receiving end of bad behaviour, as none of these companies are large-hearted to understand what mental anxiety and trauma the sole bread earners of their families face.

Otherwise, a systematic policy change would have been possible as like abroad. I am to understand that for these conglomerates rules apply differently say US, Europe and India.

Isn’t it unfairly discriminatory for loose legislations, which actually makes it a lot easier for companies to be their own master, deciding and drawing their share of profits, keeping the rest (the drivers) at the bottom as per its discretion. Someone has to intervene rather than taking a back seat!
