My Horrible Experience Working In The Postal Service

I am an engineering graduate, completed in 2019. After a year of the job hunt, I got the opportunity to be a part of the India Post GDS service. But things did not get well, starting from the first month.

I thought maybe it was part of the procedure; I got a delayed salary. Even after one month, my salary got manipulated. When I complained to the SSPO (the equivalent to the IAS officer in my post office), she assured me that I wouldn’t get any further delay.

But as usual, ASP, who is the main culprit, never stopped doing so. He deducted my Diwali bonus. Everyone in my batch got 10k, but I received 7k. I got frustrated, and due to some circumstances, I decided to look for a new job.

I had a CAT exam on 21 Nov, but I did intimate for 1 day’s leave, because of which my ASP got me suspended. I thought it would be part of the procedure. I will be asked to join within 5–10 days. But it is May now.

I wrote many application letters to both ASP and SSPO (who was on leave for a whole month twice during my suspension). It bore no results. I believe just clearing UPSC does not make you God. One day, this department will be the same as BSNL. More bureaucracy, more problems. Some day I believe PM Modi will scrap this punctured pillar of democracy.

Recently, a Jharkhand IAS officer was suspended for having a 19 crore cash at home. That’s the classic example of this UPSC work. People join this service in the name of social service, but they make money out of people who are running the business honestly.

We live in a society where Adani is hated for just being rich, but no one sees his hard work to reach there, but IAS is glorified. I wonder how this society thinks clearing UPSC is a Godly thing. But just mugging some geographical facts does not serve society.

We shall overcome. We shall overcome.
