There is a dumb-ass writer named Chetan Bhagat. I saw one of his interviews at his alma-mater IIM whereupon asked the reason for drop-out among non-savarnas in IIMs’, he said, “It’s simple, inefficient.”
This is the level of the intelligentsia in India. I felt like asking, why don’t you go and live the lives of those slum kids.
Please live in their 10 by 10 or even less sq ft house. Use public unhealthy washroom, fight for water with neighbours and even BMC till your mind and body go nuts, haggle with family members for pennies, face the embarrassment of drunkard relatives, make your mother work as maid, nurse, baby-sitter and father as a watchman, gardener.
When you live this life, then call people inefficient.
There is a kid in Jhund who runs every time Amitabh asks her about school. Later she reveals that her father plays the banjo and once she was mocked by the school teacher for it. Out of this social fear, she dropped out of school.
What is true for this kid is also true for first-generation OBC, SC, STs entering these so-called places of excellence like IIM/IIT.
