The Recent Assembly Elections In 5 States Have Put The Congress In A Dilemma

The Indian National Congress is finding itself in a dilemma that is both debilitating and distressing, given the grand old party’s lack of short-sightedness in strengthening its grassroots cadres. This has resulted in the erosion of its base and constituency amongst the voters. Who should be blamed for such a precarious situation if not the high command becoming casual?

Had the Gandhis intervened with all their sense and sincerity, the situation could have been far different from what it looks now.

Had the Gandhis intervened with all their sense and sincerity, the situation could have been far different from what it looks now. The party is in a tight position, detailing routes and debacles in states where they could have definitely made wonders had it not been for the infighting and ineffectiveness of state units in forging a strategic and tactical understanding with the leadership illustrated in the case of Punjab, Uttrakhand and Goa coming crashing down faltering at the ballot of living up to the aspirations of people.

If this isn’t resolved at the earliest, then I am afraid the party would lose its existence and relevance as one representing the argumentative Indian who has always stood guard to their fundamental beliefs, values, views and duties. Anarchy, authoritarianism and communalism are obstacles to its realisation. I certainly believe that a party with strong certainly centrist credentials will conduct and connect both the right and left intelligently and innovatively, persuading for the best.

The Congress should pass a resolution in the Congress Working Committee for a full-time president, taking everyone on the board confidently and convincingly appointing state chiefs, presidents and secretaries, and devising blueprints. If the house has to be put in order, then the change should begin from home. Every Congressman should memorise this template in their minds without postponing it further.
