The Chinese invasion of Vietnam in the year 1979 steered our country’s then Indian Foreign Minister to end the mission to China a day early. Foreign Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee broke off his China tour in Canton after conveying India’s strong protest to the Chinese Ambassador Chen Chao‐yuan in India.
It was reported that he took a hydrofoil to Hong Kong, where he boarded a flight for India. However, present Pakistan PM Imran Khan, unlike Vajpayee, has not agreed to cancel his mission to Russia, which is currently invading Ukraine. This kind of immense disappointment was painfully criticised by Congress leader Shashi Tharoor who tweeted,
“If Imran Khan has any self-respect, he will do what Vajpayee Saheb did when China attacked Vietnam during his 1979 visit. He should cancel his trip immediately & go home. Otherwise, he is complicit in the invasion.”
In 1979, America’s fuss with China irritated Russia to support Vietnam’s invasion of Cambodia and emboldened China to take a punishing assault upon Vietnam. The USA policy toward China had more or less intensified friction in the region and whetted animosity between China and Russia. Nevertheless, the changed situation at present tells a varied story. China seems to be taking the flank of America diplomatically. Why does the shift in world politics evolve now?
For purposes of the ongoing combat drill, Putin has a slightly different take on erasing the existing topographical scene. Here, he supposedly looks not barely for characteristic scenes per se, but a scene or set of scenes that amass happenings or a detailed piece of war plans. Admittedly, this could be subjective for Putin who has been even called Hitler for his war idea.
Would there be no right or wrong in this sort of pertinent posture that exclusively shatters the chance of the political dialogue? Those political leaders who search for ways to end the conflict may be considered over a fresh order to save human lives and stop barbaric motives.
