The Bhartiya Janta Party is certainly pressing the panic button in Uttar Pradesh with its ranks and cadres disillusioned with advertisements and billboard campaigns that are aimed at showing a life-size image of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as a spiritual saint and a hearted Hindutva icon rather than a credible leader delivering on law and order, infrastructure and health care.
With routine lapses, faulty implementation schemes and denying the proceeds to the people, I preferably believe that this trend has undoubtedly to do with BJP’s penchant for an impulsive autocratic model of functioning and following. The model inspires and involves approving masculinity and machoness as a trait to be cultivated and imbibed, especially amongst right-wing enthusiasts and advocates. For them, acceptance and adoration for power must be preserved and cherished by worshipping the cult. Elucidated in response to the calls made by these leaders who are pretty familiar with inciting public mood, mind and sentiments, for Yogi Adityanath’s versatility in creating and connecting with his constituents, he counts as a catch for the BJP who can get what the party may not qualify to get.
Still, his backing will be well enough for the BJP to sail past a question that predominates almost everyone among us. But, will they sail past if for a panic button that may or may not get them the desired political outcomes? Presumptions and speculations are all that we can offer right now.
