Election Commission

Election Commission should take a decisive call in the face of rising numbers of Omicron strain of Corona virus forcing states to impose night curfew from Haryana to Delhi as for a peak challenging the shortcomings and loopholes in the health architecture and infrastructure. Vaccinations aren’t a sure short guarantee in bringing the cases under check as for the awareness of wearing masks and physical distancing which should be strictly adhered and acknowledged. I am of the opinion that the Chief Election Commissioner should thoroughly visit the poll bound states in his capacity conducting dialogue and deliberations with representatives of political parties before taking officers and administrators into confidence enforcing the codes and conduct for public campaigns and rallies limited in size and scale. Shouldn’t the leaders and workers of political outfits be asked and allowed at the local levels rather than creating a hype around the crowd competing for displaying their support and strength amongst the public. A little responsiveness would do for our neta,s drawing upon political emotions and sentiments of the common and ordinary meeting and matching their political aspirations and ambitions of clinging to power with the larger interest of the people taking a back seat forcing voters to choose the lesser annoying evil. Constitutionally elected bodies like Election Comission and Supreme Court should come forward rightfully reciprocating the will of the people judicial activism has becoming enlightening and illuminating demarcating lines of separation between judiciary and exceutive blurred by the lines of no separation of powers between both tarnishing their accountability, transperancy and credibility for the worst. Thus, it would be interesting to watch if this will escalate further or will be put to test at the first instance with the centre purposefully interfering and pitching itself in the process and procedure. But, postponing the elections for a few months will definitely deliver benefits of policy governance to those at the margins with low social capital and skills to anyhow earn a living as for a partial lockdown wrecking a havoc on their sustenance and survival which can’t be compensated. Sops and freebies too are equally important for them so a election campaign may not be fully banned as for guidelines which act as a deterant. Over to chunaav ayog
