What was it like for the 90s kid’s video gaming? Well, to begin with, it was the decade when video games started booming. I remember being engaged all the time with my siblings and cousins during my summer vacations in my childhood days.
It’s all about mobile gaming on our mobile phones these days, but back then mobile phones weren’t even introduced. We relied on the video game consoles instead like SNES (1990), Spny PlayStation (1994), Nintendo 64 (1996), etc.
Let’s begin the 90s nostalgic video games countdown, shall we?
1. Road Rash (1995)
We wanted the speed and rush, and this game was it. This was the third version of the Road Rash game, but this version of the game had taken over our generation. Road Rash 3 was released in the year 1995, by Sega Genesis.
It’s a motorcycle-racing video game in which the player participates in violent, illegal street races. The races take place all across the United States: Alaska, Hawaii, Tennessee, Arizona and Vermont.
2. Tetris
Now please, don’t say that you, being the 90s kid, haven’t played this game. We indeed played this game on all the devices it was introduced. Released in 1984, Tetris was a tile-matching game. This game was improvised several times and we all loved it all the time.
We can play this game even now on mobile devices:
3. Super Mario
Super Mario was the all-time favourite video game of the 90s kid. Created by Nintendo, and also known as Super Mario Bros, this game was an adventurous game typically in the fictional Mushroom Kingdom with Mario as the player character. The player runs and jumps across platforms and atop enemies in themed levels to save the kingdom.

4. Rayman
Rayman is loved by most kids, not just in the 90s but even now. Released in 1995, Rayman was set in a fantastical, magical world. In this game, Rayman’s a magical being who with the help of his friends saves his world from various villains.

5. Super Contra
The most thrilling and adventurous game of our childhood days. Originally made by Konami, Super Contra was released in the year 1988. In this 2 player game, the game’s stars Bill Rizer and Lance Bean are sent down to thwart an alien invasion. It has five levels and throughout each stage, the player must fight their way through the enemy’s line of defence until they reach the final target waiting at the end.
We can play this game even now on mobile devices:
6. Aladdin
Disney lovers didn’t miss out on this game for sure. We indeed fell in love with Aladdin playing this game. Aladdin was released in 1993 by Sega (Genesis). The game’s set-up was based on the Aladdin movie released in 1992. This game was one of the best-selling Genesis games, around 4 million game copies were sold.
7. DuckHunt
All the craze with this first real-time shooting game with a light gun shooter in our hands. Who doesn’t remember this game? DuckHunt was released in the year 1984 by Nintendo. The game’s all about shooting the moving birds on the television screen with the help of an NES Zapper light gun, aiming and firing at the television screen.
While we loved and are still in love with the 90s video games, I have to say that the present mobile games have improvised so much, it’s mind-boggling. With the improvised gaming technology, the developers are so focused on the UI experience that they make us feel mobile gaming more and more realistic every year.
