Why did Virat Kohli say that cricket is a “game of margins“? There is no need to explain it here. The time is over now. The results have landed. The veracity of the matter is that our team is not among the four semifinalists in the T20 tournament of 2021.
This is how Kohli put the verdict:
“A positive is the way we played in the last three games. It’s a game of margins, you talk about two overs of intent in the first two games and things could have been different. We won’t make arguments about the toss because you should do both things well whether you win or lose. We were not brave enough in the first couple of games.”
So, it appears to be something of a striking vision to watch the calm but emotional discomfort. The team looks exhausted as coach Ravi Shastri also felt, suggesting the team players rest till the next clash on the cricket fixture. Perhaps, he has put his large white hat on his head and has been contemplating over each match’s comparative flaws in terms of three aspects viz. fielding, batting and bowling.
Or he might be thinking of his type of coach who, after completion of the five-year term, is also destined to enjoy the recess as a new coach has been chosen to replace him. The enormous agony that the cricket players would be realising at this critical moment needs no analysis. It remains an unbelievable outcome.
In either case, however, the coach must have several stories staring at him in the face of the departure, each calling out, “Jot down or Put down!” Last, but of course, not least, is that the T20 encounters have led both the coach and the cricketers on the real rest.
