Once Farm Laws Are Repealed, What Will Be Next For The Farmers?

I truely believe that for the farmers who have been protesting, the Centre’s contentious farm laws will have to start from scratch once they are repealed. Probably, arriving at a consensus will be tricky, given how leaders have been reacting to the issues staring at them. Thus, it is important for both the Centre as well as farmers’ unions to advocate a committee to safeguard the interests and objectives for the better.

As for all the hype around legalising minimum support price, the Modi government did away with this piece of legislation and stirred clear of the accusations of playing politics, as it would be the farm groups answerable and accountable for all their objectives and actions, otherwise acting as pressure group agents until this legislation is procedurally away at the Monsoon session of the Parliament.

Playing politics over this bill offers a decisive edge to the Bharatiya Janata Party, with the Assembly elections to the five states due next year. This fact exposes the contrasts, conflicts and contradictions of those making a mockery of movement by fulfilling their vested interests. A slip of tongue may make it prone to friction, fissures and vulnerabilities, scripting its obituary abruptly and bringing it to a screeching halt.
