The original name of Sundar Pichai is Pichai Sundararajan. He grew up in Chennai, India.
Pichai’s father Raghunath was an electrical engineer and his mother Lakshmi was a stenographer. They did not have an affluent family. As a child, Sundar used to sleep with his younger brother in the living room of a two-room apartment.

Sundar Pichai went to the United States in 1993. After an MS from Stanford, he did an MBA at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining Google, he worked for two companies, Applied Materials and McKinsey & Company.
