Pregnant Women Are Taken To The Hospital On Cots In Rajasthan’s Karanpur. Why?

Rajasthan’s Karanpur Dang kshetra (area) is well-connected, but its traffic gets disrupted due to Bakula Nala and Karai Nallah from Waris. And, the pedestrians as well as bikers have to face a lot of problems.

Due to the possibility of accidents, the main roads from Karanpur to Mandrayal and Baler have also been cut off. Also, the road from Karanpur to Kailadevi is completely dilapidated.

It is such that no matter what important work is to be done for the public—be it something to do with a patient, or a pregnant woman—the employees from state departments’ contact with 50 villages gets cut as soon as the water enters the drains.

One has to wait for the water to recede, and then cross the area on foot, because the means of transport are almost blocked, due to the lack of a drainage system. For many years now, many problems have been faced by the locals.

The Streets Are Getting Sieved

There are three main roads in the Karanpur Dang area, which is located about 60 km away from the district headquarters. The distance from Karanpur to Kailadevi, Baler and Mandrayal is 33 km long.

The construction was done about 27 years ago, in which about 6 km was not built due to it being in the forest area. Similarly, the road from Karanpur to Mandrayal is also completely bad and in rainy days, the road gets closed for about two months.

Every year, the traffic from dozens of villages of the Maharajpura gram panchayat (village council) is restricted due to rains which go on for three months. The unpaved roads break from place to place. In such a situation, there is no other alternative and it is not possible to pass through the area using a two wheeler.

The officials of the Public Works Department (PWD) are aware of the condition of these roads, but no one is paying attention to their repair and construction.

Although the contract for the road from Karanpur to Kailadevi and Mandrayal has been allotted, the work has not yet begun. The valley of Karanpur with 14 curves and turns, has a damaged road. It is broken. Many people have lost their lives due to accidents in the valley.

Pregnant Women Are Unable To Reach Hospitals

The government is making big claims about providing better facilities in the villages, but in the rural areas of Mandrayal (which is an area that falls under the subdivisions of the Karauli district of Rajasthan), people are still struggling to access basic, health facilities.

Even after 70 years of independence, people are still fascinated by basic facilities. Due to light rain, the common roads are closed off, because of which the villagers have to bring expectant mothers on cots to the hospital.

Because of the government’s subdivision level administration’s negligence, how many state and central government schemes have been implemented at the ground level? It is clear from all the aforementioned instances that they system has been exposed.

Valley’s Security Wall Is Shabby

There is a possibility of an accident due to the dilapidated road and security wall of Karanpur valley. The situation has been getting worse due to the lack of repair, for a long time now. The road is torn out of place.

The ballast is scattered due to water-logging during the rain. The drivers face a lot of problems. The potholes on the road are filled with water, due to which one can’t tell how deep the pit is. The drivers are afraid of accidents. The security wall is also broken.

About 10 years ago, due to the efforts of Sapotra’s MLA, Ramesh Chand Meena, the 33 km-long-road from Karanpur to Kailadevi, including the valley, was asphaltised.

By submitting a memorandum to patwari (government official who keeps records regarding land ownership), Krishna Kumar Tewari, in the name of the district collector, former minister and local MLA, Meena, he has demanded that the road and the security wall of the valley be repaired.

The following government offices and state-run work places have been constructed: police station, bank branch, sub tehsil, Forest Department outpost, community health center, veterinary hospital, madha ashram hostel, social welfare hostel, Agriculture Department office, power station, Water Office etc.

Government offices have been made, but they are yet to reach the public. People face great difficulty to get to them due to the shabby condition of the roads.
