Movies, series, books, and plays are a reflection of our society. I recently saw the series Kota Factory 2, based on students appearing for an IIT entrance exam. The first season of the show followed these students who move cities to focus on their studies and eventually adjust to the new life that they will be living for the next two years while preparing for their exams.
The second season followed these students and how they coped with the pressure, competition, the importance of teachers, parents, friends in a student’s life and also depicted how they dealt with their feelings, emotions during their adolescence age. One of the most important reasons behind the show being praised by the audience is the characters.
Jeetu Bhaiya’s character portrayed by Jeetendra Kumar will remind you of that one teacher who made a huge impact on your life and career. Vaibhav and his friends took me back to my college days when things seemed to be difficult, but only now do I realizes life was much easier back then.
The last episode of Kota Factory 2 gave me goosebumps. While we only speak about losers and winners when results are announced, we happen to forget about those who had been vulnerable from the very beginning and their failure only adds fuel for them to take an extreme step and harm themselves.
Some might blame society, some might blame the entire education system, some might say the student must be weak, but nobody speaks about expectations. Expectations is a very simple term to use, but the weightage it carries is much much bigger which gives people the hope to live.
