It was a few years ago when after a long long time, my family had a trip planned together. The entire family, everyone. It is just indescribable how exciting it was to even think of such trips. During the lockdown, it seems like a dream. The sole reason we all usually do not go out together is because of different commitments. So once everything was confirmed, we all got leaves. I got superbly excited and started doing all the preparations.
From planning to packing, from booking tickets to purchasing necessary stuff, everything was so much fun. I used to discuss “not so necessary” topics (what I’m gonna wear in all the places we would go to first), out of obvious excitement. And finally, the day arrived. We reached the destination and just in a blink, the holidays got over. It all looked like a dream and the lines of a famous Bollywood song crossed my mind, a thousand times more than I would have listened to, “Manzilon se behtar lagne lage hain ye raaste (The path is better than the destination)” (Movie: Jab We Met).
The Road From Childhood To Adulthood
Is it not so true for our lives too? We take birth, spend childhood with a common dream of becoming big, famous, and earning money. Once we are adults, most of us try fulfilling our dreams, satisfying society, and earning our livelihoods. But then life gives us some interesting twists – “Failure”.
Do we all touch the sky in our first attempt, do we not fail? Only lucky ones don’t fail and they are “The Achievers”. Or should I say they are the ones who do not enjoy the journey before reaching the final destination. Yes, I call “Failures” an interesting twist because unless you face it and overcome it, you’re not going to enjoy the ultimate success. This is what keeps many going. It is the journey that makes life beautiful, and failure is its part & parcel. Life’s goals add extra beauty to it but the journey to attain the goal is something that matters more.
Don’t know about others, but I do welcome every failure in my life with a big heart. It’s not that I advocate being failed or I love failure; also I would not say that it doesn’t dishearten me (Oh it does, big time and I cry like a kid). All I’m saying is failures, hurdles, or stoppages in our lives are just to make it more interesting, only if we take it positively, accept it, learn from it and move on with a stronger passion. They are just like the preparations before reaching our goals, our final destination.
Just imagine you reach a wonderland and meet a genie who grants all your wishes, no failures, no dejection. Would you not be bored? I definitely would be. What if you achieve everything without any difficulty, what if the goals of your life need no preparations to be done? Will there be much excitement? So enjoy the small stones in your way, those are probably Almighty’s way of making your life interesting and your journey memorable. They give the lessons for life. Learn and move on. And maybe that’s why some of the successful personalities have a more interesting journey to success than their goals.
Just imagine if life comes with a disclaimer of certain loose strings, would it not suck up all the zeal to fight and win the uncertainties? Would it not be a monotonous, a predicted life, where you already know the outcome. Yes, life is uncertain but then who is looking for certainties? Welcome the unseen, the journey would be evergreen. Until then *Smile*.
