Covid-19 has impacted all folks everywhere on the planet. The pandemic has brought an unacceptable situation in each person’s life like they’re the items that are affecting people’s lives. It is not about any particular age. People from all age brackets are suffering from this pandemic. The education system is suffering since the beginning of the lockdown. In this article, I’m going to discuss the effects of Covid-19 on the education of scholars.
Decreased Family Income
Firstly, the education of many student is suffering due to decreased or lost family income due to the pandemic. Moreover, as classes shifted online due to the lockdown, students were required to buy a stable internet connection, laptop and various other equipment for their studies. But some families are unable to afford it because their finances don’t allow it.
Hence, scholars had to miss a few of their classes, impacting their education. Once missed, it becomes difficult for them to cope up again.
Mental Health
Covid-19 has affects a student’s psychological state likewise. Scholars who were in Class 10 or 12 at the onset of the pandemic were in a big dilemma over whether they would be required to take their final board exams and how they would be marked for your boards. How do they determine their stream or course in college?
These two classes are a tad bit sensitive because these two classes’ results decide the stream or course they get. They will then have to decide if they wish to reappear to shift their career paths?
The scholars were are in a panic situation, it has become very complicated for them. If they are not ready to appear for an exam, what will happen in their future? Due to this anxiety-inducing scenario, their sleeping pattern is disturbed because they somehow feel that their education is suffering.
Less Outdoor Activity
Because of online classes, the school rid students of the experience of visits to museums, labs etc. Due to this, students are suffering from a lack of practical learning. These outdoor activates are fun and help students enjoy learning, but thanks to the lockdown, they all are indoors, studying on their laptops.
Online Learning
The pandemic has impacted scholars because they now have to sit for virtual classes. While some are familiar with the interface, a few aren’t and sometimes end up missing out on what the teacher is teaching. They feel shy in asking the teacher to repeat the topic in an online class because they’re not as conversant in these classes. How does one interject or raise their hand in an online class? How should one prove their point of view within an online class?
In online learning, there is sometimes a scarcity of homework as students aren’t ready to do it and are unable to try it again because they feel uncomfortable with web classes. Online learning has helped a lot of scholars as otherwise, they would have had to miss out on their education. But others are facing issues with online learning.
The Education Budget
The Education budget is for those students whose families are below the poverty level. The family is unable to pay the fees or get online class equipment for their kids in college. The government should fund such families during the pandemic and provide scholarships so that students have to suffer long-term.
Professional Courses
Due to this online learning pattern for career upliftment so that students’ education does not suffer, they are some skill development courses like digital marketing course, content writing course and GST course. These online courses have helped with the career of many scholars and given them nice job opportunities. In the above article, I have also discussed some ways in which the impact of Covid-19 on the education of scholars. The government thought that schools and colleges may become a containment zone as social distancing might not be efficient. So, they asked all schools and colleges to pack up.
Schools and colleges must determine a way for online classes so that students’ education does not suffer.
