Devastation due to heavy rains in Chiplun city of Maharashtra has led to an atmosphere of fear among the local people.
Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in Chiplun. The entire Chiplun town, Kherdi and Kalambaste areas were submerged. This is the first major flood since 2005 and is being considered to be even worse than it was in 2005.
The water is constantly rising and there is an atmosphere of fear among the people. Meanwhile as on Thursday, 22nd July 2021, at 11:00 am in the Koyna river, due to the discharge of 2100 cusecs discharge plan, Chiplun has become waterlogged. The rains have created dire situation in the concerned taluka.
Floods on Vashishti and Shiv rivers have impacted many parts of Chiplun city and internal roads have been closed. More than five feet of water has infiltrated in the city’s market, Kherdi. Hundreds of homes have been flooded.
