Govt Ready To Talk To The Farmers Even At Midnight, But Not For Revoking The Laws

Farmers’ stir in the country continue. Neither the Union Government nor the farmers are budging in this conflict. If the government stands solidly on its terms, the farmers are not going to move out despite all the odds. The government is controversially honest with the farmers, who are not discontinuing from their stir.

However, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar made it clear that the government was ready to talk to the agitating farmers even if they come at midnight, but not about their demand to repeal the three new laws, which are the bone of contention. The fact is that the farmers and the government do not agree with how the discord can be resolved.

Days, weeks and months have passed, but no progress seems to be imminent. Thousands of farmers have been camping on Delhi’s borders since last November, seeking the withdrawal of the new agriculture laws. The conflict against the three new laws started with the farmers from all over the country visiting the Delhi borders.

They have been carrying on with their amicable protests, challenging the harsh bills. Upon their convergence at the Capital’s borders, they were blocked from entering the city, leaving the worried farmers on the hard roads, in their tractors. Several places of worship opened their doors to feed them and provide refuge to them.

After as many as 11 rounds of table-talk between the Government and the farmers, with the former largely seeking a typical compromise, no agreement has been reached. This disagreement has invited media’s attention. The dominant government has offered insignificant modifications, but the farmers remain ardent about what they want and are seriously prepared to not let this grievance slip unexpectedly.

Collectively and thoroughly, they have shown that until substantial revisions are not brought about, they will keep their protests going. In the months since the protests commenced, farmers have shown a testament to their strength, understanding and resourcefulness. They worked upon a method that was rapidly brought into practice. This method was of almost every 10 farmers protesting in rotation.

This plan ensured that there are enough farmers back in the village to look after their fields, especially during the sowing or harvesting season. This method has also brought them closer to their respective families in villages,, towns or boroughs.

What is new is the government’s readiness to talk to any farmers’ union, even if they come at midnight as the Union minister said. Strangely enough, the government is ready for a talk anytime, but not to discuss the repealing of the laws.
