Kerala’s Silverline project, the semi-high speed rail project that will connect Kerala’s Northern end Kasaragod to Southern end and capital Thiruvananthapuram by covering 11 districts. Now we can travel by this new semi high speed rail from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram in just four hours, while the existing travel time is 12 hours.
Bravo! Now travelling will no more be boring. Salute to our technology.
Wait! Again forgot about the environment, right? When it comes to developmental project, we always sideline our environment and Mother Earth. We don’t even think how our environment will get affected by such projects. Is it really developmental if it’s causing harm to the environment?
The Railways will pass through the Western Ghats by excavating soil, stones and mountains by ruining the ecosystem there. It will also disturb the already fragile coastline of Kerala.
Do we need such a kind of development that is going to cause environment disasters? Remember, we only have to suffer in this. To survive on this planet we need sustainable development, and not such a devastating development.
How To Solve This Problem?
If saving time is the only aim, then go for a flight. A flight from Kasaragod to the Kannur airport is Rs 1,800 and further, a flight from the Kannur airport to Thiruvananthapuram is Rs 2,000. Now also, is there really a need for such projects?
Make people aware how life-taking this project is and oppose the government by conducting strong protests against it because remember, when people get united and raise their voices, then it will have to listen to them and change its decision.
