Trigger Warning: Mention of S*icide
I completed my graduation in Business Management and was pursuing CFA. Meanwhile, I got married on April 2019. I was a fun-loving girl who used to sneak out from hostel to go for treks, writing poetries, exploring different cultures through Couchsurfing etc, but after marriage my life got turned upside down.
I got married in an orthodox family that feels that a girl is responsible for household chores, serving her husband, taking care of his stuff and family etc. I used to get mentally pressured with their expectations and started getting depressed and suicidal.
One fine day when I was at the peak of my mental stress, I started seeking psychologists on Facebook platforms. I’ve got a lot of responses. Some were psychologists, some were healers, some of them went through the same situation and wanted to share and some of them uses different therapies. Meanwhile I could see how everyone is working for peace and happiness in their own ways.
That’s when I built a community of experts, sharing their approaches, learning from each other and working together. I managed to take a stand all alone, inspired by one of the team members and started pursuing my masters in Psychology and now have a team of 75 female mental health professionals pan India.
A story worth listening to and an inspiration to all girls who’re asked to give up her dreams after marriage.
