Brisbane pitch was tricky for Rahane and the boys, given its bounce and pace but did we see them complaining, cribbing and coughing? No, rather they accepted the challenge and presented their best by giving the Aussies a run for their money.
I believe the English cricket team should stop giving a thought to the Motera pitch rational and get back to playing phenomenal cricketing shots if they want to level their Test series with India. If they can’t then shouldn’t they be scrutinizing their individual performances rather than broadcasting their concerns on Twitter etc?
It’s high time for Joe Root and company to mentally evolve, involve and alert themselves to the competitive challenges of Cricket in terms of sharpening their skills and strategies as a team thus bettering their records. What if Ashwin and Axar Patel had taken it to the pitch instead of their bowling arm which displaced England out of the contest.
One practical solution is that English batsman should bat for time and not for runs as was displayed by Cheteshwar Pujara during the Aussies series. Though he was criticised, he was able in persuading his stillness, calmness and composure for the cause of natural game suiting his merit and method. Had he taken a high moral ground against his detractors then he would have lost his fort- but he intelligently shied away from taking any side and position.
Similarly, the English boys too should be able to depict this character and class while being on and off the field. They should be able to make a distinguishing difference and distance between a real and reel.
