I am of the opinion that our sports facilities and stadiums should be better equipped with resources and not responses for coaching and training our players to the best of their abilities and capacities. Uplifting and ameliorating their presentations and performances at the level of competition defining the prowess of our players to secure ranks and titles.
Shouldn’t our sports administrators be devising actions and alternatives for checking this shortfall instead of organizing and assembling plaques and statues? Delhi’s Ferozshah Stadium came under fierce attack and criticism after Delhi and District Cricket Administration planned to proceed with Late Arun Jaitley’s statue near the complex.
This led to a war of words between former players and office bearers of DDCA leading to conflict of interest forcing former cricketer Bishen Singh Bedi to step down. No doubt Jaitely was an exceptional orator, sound statesman and strategic politician but he was never considered a choice for administering Cricket except for his fondness for the gentleman’s game.
DDCA had become a den of chaos, corruption and contestation during Jaitely’s tenure as for the resignation of many prominent faces like Kirti Azad Jha who was very much a part of DDCA apart from being a Bhartiya Janta Party MP. How could he accept and acknowledge the baseless accusations and allegations levelled against him without any investigation? Were the rest of DDCA members acting at the behest of Jaitely?
Maybe, we will never get to hear about this as Shri Arun Jaitley is no more between us. The point is why should our netas be allowed the privilege of running for profiles of managing professional sports bodies? I ask what do they about the sports with which they get associated like Jay Shah, BCCI Secretary, for all his political networks and connections coming handy with political power and position.
Amit Shah too wielded his clout in Gujarat Cricket Association proposing to rename the recently refurbished Sardar Patel Motera Stadium to Narendra Modi stadium. Narendra Modi while being Gujarat’s Chief Minister was considered a key architect in moulding the faith of Motera stadium into what it stands now. Shah deserves credits for his contributions which I am sure would have made Modi ji brim with pride and purpose safeguarding his political goals and objectives.
Who says Modi will shy away from as for the BJP, it’s all in the name, important from the perspective of decolonising our mindsets and mentalities. Tabhi toh banega India kushal aur aatma nirbhar likh kar apni khud ki takdeer (that’s how India will prosper and become self-sufficient, writing its own destiny).
Petrol and diesel prices can still wait for a while as engaging in what otherwise shouldn’t have been done is the primary pursuit, it seems.
