This incident took place on 21st November 2020 between 10:30 am to 11:00 am at Agrawal Towers in Ahmedabad. Three people, claiming to be police officers, entered the house, saying that they had come from ‘Maharashtra Bheed’. Only one person had an assistant police inspector’s ID. They entered my neighbour’s house and asked the family to keep the door locked.
The Police Officers Stayed In The House For 3 Days, Which Is A Legal Offense
Basically, Vatsal, who worked in a company 6 years ago as an employee, got his name involved indirectly in a case in which his boss took money from different companies in the name of providing them with franchisees. And since the boss and his wife, along with 3 others, Aakash, Sanjay, and Sandeep – his colleagues weren’t trackable, they came here to arrest him after a company filed a complaint against his ex-boss under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) which deals with cheating and dishonestly inducing the delivery of the property and Section 120 B IPC which deals with criminal conspiracy.
The police officer told Vatsal, “Tame 15 lakh aapo toh aa case settle thayi sake che (If you give 15 lakhs, we can settle this case for you).” Since his finances are limited, he bargained, and the final settlement took place at 4 lakh. He requested some time from the officers to arrange the money and was given 3 days.
During these three days, the officers put the entire family under house arrest. No one in the family was allowed to move out of the house or even make a phone call. Those three police officers also stayed in their house for 3 days, which is a legal offence.
No Lady Constable Was Present Even Though The Familly Comprised Two Females
They didn’t have any search warrant or arrest warrant with them; neither was a lady constable present with them since the family consists of two ladies. After the amount was arranged, those officers told Vatsal that they would provide some document that would state that he was not involved in the case by any means. However, to date, there are no traces of either the document or those officers.
After their departure, my neighbour told us what all took place during those days. He said he didn’t react before because he was worried “log kya kahenge” (what will people say?) in the society about police visiting him. He does not have any written proof of the transaction that happened to file a complaint against those people, except for the common society CCTV footage, which is not enough proof.
