Quick Byte: House Arrest and Travel Constraints, What’s Happening In Delhi

How can someone’s right be curtailed in the name of granting him security and safety? Is Arvind Kejriwal, the elected Chief Minister of Delhi, forced to pay the price for his visit to the Singhu border yesterday? On a similar note is the house arrest of the protesting BJP leaders of the MCD requesting funds for the smooth functioning of the three corporations in Delhi.

I find a contradiction in the versions being put forward by the Delhi Police as for Kejriwal’s lack of access to meet his party cadres, workers, and leaders. How can you disallow an elected representative of the people from exercising his constitutional rights and duties?

Amit Shah Ji might assure us with some satisfactory response as this is the least we expect from him as in regards to his role and responsibility as the chief troubleshooter, negotiator, and consensus builder of the ruling regime in New Delhi.

I believe Modiji should personally intervene and take stock of the matter before it further worsens and deteriorates. I am still unsure of convincing myself with the arguments I have put forward as this regime has become completely listless and valueless.

Let Kejriwal fulfill his obligations as a leader of his party, maintaining a principled stand on the neglect and vulnerability of the distressing farmers at the hands of the state. Don’t treat and trade this movement as us versus them. Humility should prevail.
