Farmer Protest: If We Don’t Speak Up Now, It Will Be Too Late

The huge vacuum between the ground reality of the protests and the depiction of the same by media is poles apart. Being from a family of Punjabi Farmers myself and also a learner of Law, I have realized that the issue is not as simple as it appears. The democracy of India is in danger! Fundamental rights are being taken away and if you dare speak against the Government with a dissenting viewpoint, thou shall be called an ‘anti-nationalist’.

Right now, the farmers are the torchbearers for awareness. If we don’t learn to speak up for ourselves now, tomorrow might be too late for it.

The decency and compassion portrayed by these farmers during the protests is something that tells about the strong-will and patience which the community holds.
