Quick Byte: Why We Need To Save The Ganges

Ganga is considered the holiest river in India. But the sad truth is that it is one of the most polluted rivers in the world. Ganga starts her journey from the Himalayas and ends in the Bay of Bengal. She is part of our culture but unknowingly or knowingly we have polluted her.

Causes are many but the actions are few. There are 150 tanneries in Kanpur that leave wastewater containing Chromium that is allowed into the river without treatment. We have initiated many projects all of them have not attained that success. We are not removing the cause of pollution, we are just cleaning it and that is why we have failed.

The Ganges has become one of the most polluted rivers in the world.

No government closes these factories, If a government can’t close factories that cause pollution, How will they take care of us? Ganga provides water to 40% of the population of India and many people bath in it. But what is the use of saying Ganga is healing because of lockdown? After the lockdown, the situation will be the same, pollution. We all tell that what can we do but a mass movement can help. Let us write about the state of rivers in our country under #ActOfChange. This is for only those who care for India #TimeToAct
