Motilal Vora was the staunchest admirers of the Congress ideology for his commitment and command in the rank of the party. He served as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh apart from being a treasurer of the party, a post on which he stayed for quite a long while. Vora’s close association and communication with the Gandhis gave him absolute access and command in looking after the organization of the internal working committee of the party.
A chief advisor, spokesperson, strategist, and negotiator of the Congress, he wore many hats. He often used to articulate his position and stand on themes requiring urgent and immediate attention. His ability to persuade, present, and perform his obligations and duties as a trusted lieutenant of Congress did make him earn praises and plaudits from across the political spectrum.
This year has been tragic for the grand old party as it has lost stalwarts like Pranab Da, Tarun Gogoi, and Ahmed Patel, who were fountain heads, inspiring and instilling a sense of profound pride in the cadre and worker on the ground. It was rarely seen and found in today’s politics lacking, which lacks decency and decorum towards opposing views and ideas.
