Open Letter – Education For One And All

To Whom It May Concern,

Education is the only way to a developed world. With education comes understanding, and pathways to a better future and life. And education is a privilege which most minorities cannot afford.

With the way the world is moving ahead, the rate at which the population is growing, education is a serious need of times, especially in countries like India, where the literacy rate being low and the criminal rate being high, education is the only way to change.

Education is the only way to bring about a progressive and rational thought process. It is something which needs to be given, free of cost, to every single child, whether they can afford it or not, and along with that, the importance and necessity of what a good education can do for you needs to be instilled in every child. They need to be taught that the only way ahead is through, and no short cut in life is going to take them anywhere.

The need for a proper education shouldn’t be forced down anyone’s throat; anything done with force concurs a rebellious reaction. It needs to be instilled, with care and understanding of what the child needs and how he thinks, in his own language, which will make him want to be educated and be leading a fulfilling life.

This is the only way to end the criminal acts that relentlessly keep taking place in India. If the literacy rate increases, the criminal rate will comparatively drop. Though it is not the uneducated lot who contribute to the crime in the country, it is still those not properly educated. There is a difference between a free education, which is provided, because it has to be provided by law, and an education which is instilled with love, care and patience, for the betterment of the child.

The kind of education that needs to be imparted is not just teaching them what is in the books, but going beyond; real life skills which encompass proper etiquette behaviour, leadership skills, equality and oneness between gender, race, age, colour, sexual preference, etc., exposure to make them self-sufficient, self-motivated individuals, to make them future ready.

Also, it should not be stopped at a certain age because of the inability of the family to pay for the child’s education, doing this forfeits the entire purpose of the cause and the basic education provided before is all down the drain.

Sincerely,

Citizen of India
